The two elderly saints wearing monkish attire, notably the Great Schema, holding a model of the walled monastery they founded, the Mother of God depicted above, the family patrons St. John the Evangelist, the deacon St. Ermolaiy and St. Michael the Grand Duke on the border; the silver oklad with lavish embossed foliage and cut-out haloes

This lot was purchased by the present owner from Galerie Manic on 16 October 2004. The icon is accompanied by the original Certificate of Acquisition.
