Written in Old Slavonic, the title page of each volume ornamented with an engraving: John Chrysostom's opening page depicting the Ascension, portraits of the Apostles and a view of the Kremlin, St. Andrew's Tome beginning with basically the same image except for substituting the view of Kremlin with a picture of Moscow, the first work including seventeen woodcuts, the subjects taken mostly from the life of Christ, the second book having eleven woodcuts, their themes drawing on the Apocalypse, with decorative initials, headpieces and endpieces, the contemporary binding made of wooden boards covered by calf leather, the front decorated with a gilt image of the Nativity, the back with a stamped, oval floral arrangement, the borders of both sides with floral patterns in relief, the spine with five raised bands, each alternating with gilt flower buds, with two sophisticated brass clasps and ties at the side
