While a number of porcelain boxes and covers in the famille rose palette were produced during the Qianlong period, Imperial tiered boxes appear to be very rare and no other box of this exact form and decoration appears to have been published.

A slightly larger famille rose circular box and cover (15.5 cm. diam.) with more naturalistic floral decoration and iron-red bats decorating the sides is in the Palace Museum collection, Beijing, illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures from the Palace Museum - Porcelains with Cloisonne Enamel Decoration and Famille Rose Decoration, Hong Kong, 1999, p. 115, no.99.

Compare also a Qianlong-marked ruyi-shaped box in the National Palace museum, Taipei, with related stylised lotus decoration illustrated in Cataloge of the Special Exhibition of K'ang-Hsi, Yung-Cheng and Ch'ien-Lung Porcelain Ware from the Ch'ing Dynasty in the National Palace Museum, Taipei, 1986, p. 152, no. 126; and another Qianlong-marked turquoise-ground octagonal box and cover sold at Sotheby's Hong Kong, 1 November 1994, lot 199.

A Kangxi wucai tiered box of the same shape in the Palace Museum collection, Beijing is illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures from the Palace Museum - Porcelains in Polychrome and Contrasting Colours, vol. 38, Hong Kong, 1999, p. 142, no. 130. An earlier blue and white example of slightly different form decorated with figural scenes also in the Palace Museum Collection is illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures from the Palace Museum - Blue and White Porcelain with Undergalzed Red (II), vol. 35, Hong Kong, 2000, pp. 56-57, no. 52.
