AN EMBROIDERED SCROLL
QING DYNASTY, 18TH 19TH CENTURY

Finely embroidered with an egret wading in shallow water, beside a lush embankment with peony, osmanthus, reeds and other flowering plants with an ornamental rock, two small birds are shown in flight at the upper left corner, the silk threads used in tones of blue, green, russet and cream worked in satin stitch with the pair of flowers below the peony embellished with seed pearls whilst the centers of other flowers are enhanced with tiny Peking knots
24 1/8 x 13 1/4 in. (61 x 34 cm.), mounted as a hanging scroll
