Lot Essay

This vase with three rams holding it on their backs is highly unusual. Although no other identical vase appears to be published, it can however be compared to a 16th century bronze and cloisonné enamel censer also supported by three rams and illustrated in Metal-bodied Enamel Ware - The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum, Hong Kong 2002, p.46, pl.44.
