The cylindrical brush-handle and cover finely carved with elongated shaped cartouches enclosing scenes of scholars and their attendants in waterside landscapes, variously depicted with trees growing along rocky banks, the brush end encircled with a key-fret band, the terminal with stylised ruyi heads, the cover carved with a fourteen character inscription between the key-fret and stylised ruyi head borders, set on a floral diaper ground
