The tapered body on four bracket feet decorated with bands of stylized flowers, birds and geometric designs, the lower border with enamelled band with a Russian proverb, the front with a niello view of the Kremlin, the shallow conical cover with raised pierced border and circular beaded enamel flower-head, the hinge formed as a stylized bird resting on the shaped baluster handle, marked on the cover and base
9 in. (22.8 cm.) high
The Russian inscription reads: Pri pive pri brazhke vse druzhki pri gore kruchine vse ushli which translates as 'In feasting and drinking we are all your friends, in sorrow we will all be gone'.
