Lot Essay

This pair of colza-oil lamps were probably made for the American market for retailers such as Baldwin Gardiner, the distinguished New York retailer. The lamps that he sold were essentially made by lamp manufacturers in Birmingham and London, such as Thomas Messenger and Sons.
