Lot Essay

Whilst unsigned, this bronze figure of Narcissus demonstrates many of the qualities of the workshop of A. Rohrich. Active in Rome during the late 18th century up to the mid-19th century, Rohrich produced good quality bronze models after the antique and would have competed with the workshop of Benedetto Boschetti for the affluent tourist trade of the day. A similar figure of Narcissus was sold Christie's South Kensington, 18 December 2007, lot 44.
