Davyhulme Hall, Trafford was the seat of Robert Josias Jackson (b.1784) and his son, Robert Henry Norreys (b.1812). The original hall was built in about 1150 by the de Hulme family, though the depiction here dates from the first half of the 19th century. It has been suggested that the watercolour offered here was executed by a member of the Norreys family. The Hall was demolished in 1888 and the estate is now the Davyhulme Golf Club.
