In original straws. In original wooden cases with original bands until these were removed prior to inspection by Christies staff
Tasting Note: First tasted in October 1967 alongside the '66 at Lebègue's annual trade tasting. Not unusually at this stage, lacking colour, very underdeveloped though fairly sweet, with lovely flavour and potential. Then a quantum leap of nearly 30 years: still on the pale side of medium, fully mature-looking; its nose just sat there, undemonstrative, complacent but good. Much more to it on the palate, fairly sweet, full-bodied, rich, powerful, tangy, still with silky tannins. Last noted in Prince Löwenstein's cellar, Ham, July 1996 **** At its zenith but will continue to please. M.B.
