The case with foliate gilt-brass handle to the brass-bound caddy top with gilt-brass pierced and engraved foliate sound frets to all sides, later urn finials to all angles above gilt-brass moulding, gilt-brass lined doors and conforming glazed side panels, the 3 in. wide brass dial with silver spandrels to silvered chapter ring with Turkish numerals, signed R. Richard Peckover is recorded working in Change Alley in 1735 and at the Royal Exchange in 1751. It is believed he took over Quare and Horseman's business in 1733. A miniature gilt-metal eight day striking table clock by him is illustrated in E. Bruton, The Wetherfield Collection of Clocks, London, 1981, p.105, plate 49.
