Lot Essay

A chair of this basic model, i.e. with pierced rectangular spindle filled back is illustrated in Vienne 1815-1848. Un nouvel art de vivre à l'époque Biedermeier Paris, 1990, p. 80. The present set with its caracteristic simulated marquetry and figured-walnut stem from the later Biedermeier period.
