Lot Essay

Two comparable armchairs are illustrated on a water colour of the Zeltzimmer in Charlottenhof. This small scale neo-classical palace was built in 1826-9 for the then heir to the throne, King Friedrich Wilhelm IV. Charlottenhof, situated at the southern end of the Sancoussi Park was designed and furnished by karl Friedrich Schinkel.
