The rectanuglar tops above scrolling acanthus and anthemia friezes centred by a medallion, with goat masks and acanthus capped fluted tapering legs, joined by foliate X-stretchers centred by fruit filled baskets flanked by swans

Lot Essay

The frames of these tables are after a design commissioned in 1773 by Principe Don Marcantonio Borghese for the Stanza Terza in the Galleria Terrena of the Palazzo Borghese. These were sold by Christie's, London, July 2001, lot 50.
