Like the previous lot, this drawing can be dated later in Lallemand's career, to between 1775 and 1792. On the opposite bank stands the Hôtel de Monnaie designed by Jacques-Denis Antoine, built between 1767 and 1775, and the statue of King Henri IV erected in 1618 but pulled down in 1792 during the Revolution, is seen on the Pont Neuf.
A watercolour of the same composition, but with different figures in the foreground is in the Musée Carnavalet, Paris (P. Quarre, Un paysagiste dijonnais du XVIIIe siècle, J.-B. Lallemand, exhib. cat., Dijon, Palais des Etats de Bourgogne, 1954, no. 83).
