Lot Essay

Acolytes is based on a rather usual motif in Eileen Agar's pictures: the symmetrical presence of two figures engaged in some sort of enigmatic, wordless conversation. The title points to this duo of personages both similar and dissimilar, linked by the geometrical organicity of the shapes that form them, the winding lines emphasizing the construction at work. Both are equally engaged in a silent ritual - looking at each other's process of accretion.
