The design of these console tables, and more specifically the floral festoons under the frieze, the S-shaped legs and stretchers centred by a floral festoon, are reminiscent of a superb console table influenced by designs of Piranesi which is conserved in the Capitolinie Museums, Rome, (see A. González-Palacios, Il Tempio del Gusto - Roma e il Regno delle due Sicilie, Milan, 1984, vol II., p. 79, fig 152.) However, the less elaborate type of carving of the consoles here offered is more typical for a Marche or Tuscany production rather than Rome.
