The beautifully lappeted lace-like decoration of these pots derives from the engravings of Jean Bérain (d. 1711) and relates to two trembleuse cups and saucers of circa 1720 that were sold from the collections of Robert R. and Pauline S. Heitner, Christie's, New York, 22-23 October 2003, lot 267.
