In the Louis XIV style, late 19th century
The serpentine shaped breche violet marble top with moulded edge above a pierced and foliate scroll diaper frieze centred by a cartouche, on angled cabriole legs headed by saytr masks and entwined winged serpents, joined by scrolled stretchers and an undertier centred by a raised pierced and foliate shield centred by fleur-de-lys, the underside of the marble stencilled '102' and with label to the reverse 'Garde Meuble Tailleur Fils' and inscribed '121'

This marble-topped sideboard-table, with festive satyr-masked and truss-scrolled 'console' pilasters enwreathed by Minerva 'draco' serpents, is designed in the 1720s French 'picturesque' fashion and is copied from a Versailles table that entered the French Crown Collections under Louis-Philippe in 1835. Patterns for related tables appeared in Nouveaux Desseins de Pieds de Tables by Nicolas Pineau (d.1754), some of whose designs appeared in Mariettes edition of Davilers, Cours D'architecture, 1738.
