Conyers] at the Gold Ring in Little Britain, [1705?]. 24° (71 x 43mm), woodcut frontispiece (some light browning), late 19th-century green morocco, spine with raised bands gilt lettered in one panel, gilt turn-ins, top edge gilt (upper cover rehinged). Provenance: Myers & Co, 80 New Bond St. (bookseller's label).
FIRST EDITION of this diminutive compilation derived from four of Markham's original texts, The Pleasures of Princes, Hungers Prevention, Country Contentments and Markhams Method. The frontispiece contains a woodcut of an angler, used again in the second edition. Both editions are priced at 6d. on the title-page. Schwerdt describes this first edition as "exceedingly rare but not unique as stated in the sale catalogue of the Huth library". No copies are recorded in ESTC. Two copies appeared at auction in 2005 and 2007 but these are the only sales recorded in on-line ABPC. Poynter *1; Schwerdt p. 13; Westwood and Satchell p. 188.
