The Young Sportsman's Delight and Instructor in Angling, Fowling, Hunting, ordering Singing Birds, Hawks, Poultry, Conies, Hares, Dogs, &c. and how to cure them. [London]: sold [by G. Conyers] at the Ring in Little-Britain, [1712?]. 24° (109 x 49mm), woodcut frontispiece and 8 text woodcuts of fish, some repeated from the frontispiece (D6 torn with partial loss to three lines on recto and four lines on verso), contemporary sheep (rubbed). Provenance: John Coulstock (contemporary inscription) -- Gilbey collection (Schwerdt catalogue) -- C.F.G.R. Schwerdt (bookplate).

SECOND EDITION, SCHWERDT COPY of this 'exceedingly rare' compilation. First published by Conyers in c. 1705, it derives from four of Markham's original texts, and has a second title-page on a3r reading: "A Compleat and Experienc'd Angler, in two parts: or the Anglers Vade mecum ...." The frontispiece contains a woodcut of an angler, used in the first edition, to which five cuts of fish are added. ESTC records copies only at the BL and Yale. Schwerdt speculates that his copy may have been the one perfect copy known to Westwood and Satchell, then in the Denison collection. Poynter *1.2; Schwerdt II, p. 13; Westwood and Satchell p. 147.
