The Oakleigh Shooting Code ... by Thomas Oakleigh. London: James Ridgway and Sons, 1836. 12°, half-title, extra-illustrated with an engraved frontispiece of "Pheasant Shooting" by W. Smith after A. Cooper (frontispiece browned at margins, title lightly browned), contemporary blue boards, uncut (rebacked in cloth with morocco label). FIRST EDITION IN BOOK FORM. Originally published in the New Sporting Magazine as a series of papers entitled "Nights at Oakley Old Manor House" (1833), the manor house being the author's residence in Derbyshire. Neither Chute nor Schwerdt call for a frontispiece. Chute 369: "informative on all that relates to shooting"; Schwerdt I, p. 283.
