Mr Sponge's Sporting Tour. London: Bradbury and Evans, 1853. 13 original parts bound in 12, 8°, 13 hand-coloured etched plates and 89 illustrations by John Leech (plate in pt. I almost detached, occasional light marginal spotting or thumb-soiling), original brick-red printed wrappers (spines chipped), in red morocco gilt box, spine lettered and richly decorated in gilt.
FIRST EDITION IN ORIGINAL PARTS, FIRST ISSUE with the dedication to Lord Elcho (Earl Elcho in later issues), heading of p.95 mis-spelled, the woodcut on p.229, though the advertisements are printed in black and not in red as called for by Tooley.
