Sporting, embellished by large engravings and vignettes illustrative of British Field Sports ... edited by Nimrod. London: A. H. Baily, 1838 [but 1837?]. 2° (358 x 264mm), engraved frontispiece, additional engraved title with vignette and 21 plates after Thomas Gainsborough, Edwin Landseer and others, vignettes (frontispiece and additional title heavily spotted, spots and stains to some plates, text leaves generally clean), contemporary hard-grained green morocco gilt, covers with stag-hunting scenes forming a wide border, repeated stag motif on spine, gilt edges (some discolouration, some rubbing to joints and corners, slight stains on spine). Provenance: "Hugh Robert Hughes, a present from Mr Orred, AD. 1837" (inscription on original yellow free endpaper) -- Robert Hughes (grandiose bookplate) -- E. Lynton Vicars (ex-libris label).
