Whilst the Dutch/English idea of the bureau cabinet was readily adapted by Danish and German cabinet-makers and, by the mid-18th century, many impressive examples featured prominently in aristocratic collections there, few such pieces were recorded in Sweden.
The pierced angle mounts and in particular the naturalistically cast scrolled drawer handles with their ends beautifully extending into foliate trails are typical for mid-18th century Swedish production and can be found on commodes by Christopher Tietze, Jonas Wahlbeck, Niclas Korp or Johan Noræus; some of which also feature the distinctive cube-pattern parquetry.
