The rectangular verde marble moulded top above a foliate-cast frieze with rosettes, on classically-draped female monopodiae, centred by square-sectioned supports mounted with winged maiden and anthemian, joined by H-shaped stretchers centred by a classical urn flanked by winged female sphinxes, the turned capitals above the maiden supports later

Lot Essay

This elegant centre table is based on the celebrated console double faces supplied by Jacob-Desmalter for the apartment of Caroline Murat at the Palais de l'Elysée in 1808 which is now at the Grand Trianon (illustrated in D. Ledoux-Lebard, Les Ebénistes du XIXème Siècle, 2nd ed., p. 271).
