Each finely woven in gold-wrapped thread with a scaly five-clawed dragon shown front facing as it leaps amidst clouds and water motifs, woven in shades of blue, white and ochre, with small areas of coral

Lot Essay

A smaller (12 5/8 in. diam.) Kangxi-period midnight-blue satin roundel depicting a side-facing dragon was sold in these rooms, The Imperial Wardrobe: Fine Chinese Costume and Textiles from the Linda Wrigglesworth Collection, 19 March 2008, lot 3.
