Well painted with a walled scene of five scholars seated at a low platform table, three drinking wine and engaged in animated conversation while a fourth at the end of the table is served wine by a young attendant, the fifth sitting pensively with a scroll in his hand, a second young attendant looking on while tending the supply of food and wine, all beneath jagged trees, lanterns, and stars symbolizing a constellation, the reverse featuring an eight-line calligraphic inscription comprising the text of the poem Chun Ye Yan Tao Li Yuan Xu by Li Bai
