A RARE BLUE AND WHITE 'PHOENIX' BASIN
KANGXI SIX-CHARACTER MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE WITHIN A DOUBLE CIRCLE AND OF THE PERIOD (1662-1722)
The interior painted with a large phoenix reserved on a dense cloud ground, the mythical bird with outstretched wings and head turned sharply back towards its long plumed tail, with four additional phoenixes encircling the cavetto, the wide, everted rim with lotus scroll and the outer edge of the rim with brown dressing, all raised on a channeled foot
