Shown seated with hands resting on her raised left knee and hidden within the sleeves of the long robes drawn around her, with a jeweled floral necklace spanning the chest, the face with delicate features and the hair pulled up in a high coiffure behind a jeweled ruyi head-form crown, attached to a short scarf covering the back of the head, the glaze of slightly bluish tone, with two seals impressed in the back reading Dehua and boji yuren

The mark boji yuren may be translated, 'virtue extends to all, even fisherman.'
A similar, though smaller (8 7/8 in.), unmarked 18th century blanc-de-chine figure of a seated Guanyin was sold in these rooms, 21 March 2002, lot 228.
