Some light staining and yellowing to the edges of the blue card mounts. Some of the images remain strongly contrasted black and white prints with rich blacks. Many have faded to varying degrees, some yellowing and browning to some of the prints, occasional slight spotting and a few have slight creases from the original mounting process. One image 'Entre de Rio' has a small blister in the sky. Overall in fairly good condition with the images reasonably well preserved.

A photographic souvenir of Schwoerer's voyage to South America in 1894-5. The St Nicolas was a passenger ship of the Hamburg South American Line from 1888 to 1896. The line was founded in 1871 and commenced operating from Hamburg via Lisbon to Bahia, Rio de Janeiro and Santos, and was later extended to the River Plate.
