The grapes are grown in the same vineyards as the prestigious Grand Vin and are subject to the same care and rigorous selection. Bahans Haut-Brion is aged in some new oak barrels and some barrels that have previously been used for the previous year's Grand Vin.

Pessac-Léognan, Graves
The second wine of Château Haut-Brion
Tasting Note: The dark ruby/purple-coloured, deep, rich, medium-bodied 2000 Bahans Haut-Brion exhibits scents of graphite, black cherry liqueur, cassis, and minerals. This second wine has a lot in common with its bigger sibling, displaying impressive volume, depth, and complexity. Robert Parker, Wine Advocate 146, April 2003.
