ParcelWineBuyers from within the EU: VAT payable … Read more CHATEAU CLERC-MILON Château Clerc-Milon is owned by Baroness Philippine de Rothschild following the acquisition of this fifth growth by Baron Philippe de Rothschild in 1970. The property has since been extended, completely reorganized and renovated under the new owners who saw the significant potential of the château. The vineyards which are located near to those of Mouton Rothschild and Lafite-Rothschild contain 46 Cabernet Sauvignon, 35 Merlot, 15 Cabernet Franc, 3 Petit Verdot and 1 Carmenère. The average age of the vines is 40 years old and the density is 8450 vines per hectare. Soils are very varied but predominantly gravel based. The estate is managed by Philippe Dhalluin. Grapes are harvested by hand. Vinification is classic with fermentation in stainless steel for between 15 and 20 days. The wine is aged for between 16 to 18 months in oak of which about 30 is new. In style Clerc-Milon is often considered more masculine compared to Château d'Armailhac (also owned by Baroness Philippine de Rothschild). Annual production is approximatley 170,000 bottles.
