ParcelWineBuyers from within the EU: VAT payable … Read more CHATEAU GRAND-PUY-DUCASSE Pierre Ducasse first planted vines on the property in the 18th Century and extended the vineyards through additional purchases until his death in 1797. In recent times the Château was acquired by CA Grand Crus, a subsidiary of the group Crédit Agricole in 2004. The company also owns Château de Rayne Vigneau, Château Meyney, Château Lamothe Bergeron, Château Blaignan and Château Plagnac. The Château has 40 hectares of vines, planted with Cabernet Sauvignon (62 and Merlot (38 with an average age of 25 years and yields average 45 hectolitres per hectare. Grapes are all hand-harvested before two sortings, once in the vineyard and again at the winery. Then the grapes are de-stemmed and lightly crushed before fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. The wines are aged in oak for between 18 and 24 months and the proportion of new oak varies between 30 and 40 Annual production varies between 100,000 and 120,000 bottles depending on the vintage.
