They were responsible for the current name of Château La Tour Haut-Brion with the addition of Haut-Brion to the existing name. In 1983 the estate was bought by the Dillon family, who also own La Mission Haut-Brion and Haut-Brion. The vineyards are alongside those of La Mission, and until 1983 La Tour Haut-Brion was the second wine of La Mission. The soil is predominantly gravel with some small amounts of clay and sand. The 5 hectares are planted with 42 Cabernet Sauvignon, 35 Cabernet Franc and 23 Merlot.

Talence (Graves), cru classé
Tasting Note: The mature vines have certainly produced a slightly less aggressive La Tour. Now fragrant, with lovely flavour and aftertaste. One of the best that I can recall ***(*) Now- 2016 M.B.
