Henri Lurton took over the running of the property in 1992. The estate is divided into three parcels. The largest is 45 hectares located in front and behind the château. There are 30 hectares on the "Plateau de Brane" which has a deep gravel soil that is up to 10 metres deep in places, which is well drained and forces the roots to penetrate deep into the soil to obtain moisture. The third parcel is in Soussans with gravelly sand, and the grapes from here are normally destined for the second wine, Baron de Brane. The average age of vines is 25 years with a planting density of between 6,600 to 8,000 vines per hectare, and harvesting is all conducted by hand, and yields are kept relatively low, such as 46 hectolitres in 2000 and 36 in 2001. Henri Lurton's father introduced one of the first hand-sorting tables in Bordeaux and today the grapes are selected in the vineyard and twice in the winery. The grapes undergo a cold-maceration for four days before fermentation in a combination of epoxy-lined concrete, stainless steel and wooden vats. The temperature is regulated at around 28 degrees centigrade and both selected (F33 and RB2) and indigenous yeasts are used. Frequent pigeage is used in order to extract tannins and anthocyanins. Some of the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in barrels. The wine is matured in barrique using between 50 and 60 new oak for approximately 18 months, whereas the second wine is aged for 12 months. In total approximately 150,000 bottles are produced annually.
