Lot Essay

Attilio Pratella was an avid painter of the landscape surrounding Naples. He captured the warmth and luminosity of the sea with great flair and accuracy. Pratella began his artistic schooling at the Fine Art Academy in Bologna, but after moving to Naples for further training he remained there for his entire life painting exclusively in and around Naples. He was influenced by the works of William Turner and also by the artists of the Barbizon School.
