Lot Essay

The knot count is approximately 11H x 10V per cm. sq.

It is purported that Muhammad Bin Ja'far (1870-1910) was the father of Abul Kasim Kirmani, another highly regarded Kirmani weaver associated with some of the finest weavings. A similar but much smaller example of Muhammad Bin Ja'far's work sold very recently in these Rooms, 10 April 2008, lot 158 and a further example but from a different cartoon, was sold in these Rooms, 22 April, 1999, lot 51.
