Side A: a frontal quadriga, the chariot with two figures, an armed warrior and attendant charioteer
Side B: Dionysos holding a cornucopia and vine tendrils between two dancing bearded satyrs and a maenad
Double palmette chain on the neck, tongues on the shoulder, bands of meander and conjoined lotus buds below, rays above the foot, lotus buds and scrolling palmettes under each handle, details incised and in added red and white, a graffito on the base
16 in. (40.5 cm.) high
Provenance
Acquired by the French playwright Maurice Boniface (1862-1945), in the early 20th Century; and thence by descent to the present owner.
