AN ATTIC RED-FIGURE BELL KRATER
CIRCA 400-350 B.C.
Side A: two seated bearded satyrs, one playing auloi (double-pipes), another holding a torch, between them two standing maenads, one holding thyrsos and phiale laden with bunches of grapes, the other holding a torch
Side B: three standing youths, each wrapped in a himation, one holding a staff
Double palmettes under the handles, band of meander and chequerboard crosses below, laurel wreath below rim
