LUDOLF, Hiob (1624-1704). Historia Aethiopica. Frankfurt a.M.: B.C. Wust for J.D. Zunner, 1681. 2° (318 x 190mm). Title printed in red and black, fine mezzotint portrait of the author by E.C. Heiss after G.B. van Zand, folding engraved map and 6 engraved plates, 5 folding, 2 double-page printed genealogical tables (one plate with a small hole, browned and spotted to a greater or lesser extent throughout). Contemporary panelled calf (rebacked). Provenance: William Talbot, Bishop of Oxford, 1702 (armorial bookplate on title-verso).

Title printed in red and black, some red printing, fine mezzotint portrait of Abba Gregory by E.C. Heiss after G.B. van Sand, engraved portrait of the author and of the King of Abyssinia and 10 plates, 5 double-page (some browning, worse towards the beginning). Binding and provenance as above.
