Made up for her hope chest, they instead were packed away when Miss Danby, of Parkers Piece, Cambridge, sadly never married and so never used the quilts. They therefore retain all the freshness of their original colour, including the often fugitive greens. Densely packed with printed chintz motifs carefully cut out and re-applied to a fine linen ground, they are truly masterpieces of the art of appliqué. The coverlets have never been separated, and have passed directly by descent to the present vendors.
