With ribbed loop handle, inscribed around side Fransois.Avenete; together with another of plain design with serpent ring handle, inscribed to side, F.Body, mark of Pierre Carreau (II), Tours, 1781-89; another example, the fluted sides with reverse-punched bead bands and textured serpent ring handle, maker's mark indistinct, Paris, 1789, the sides inscribed with initials J.L.F.; and a post-1838 French silver wine taster of plain design, the ring handle with plain oval thumbpiece, engraved around side APLE MIOCHE DE ENVAL
