Persian manuscript on paper, 4ll. of black nasta'liq on a ground lightly illuminated in gold with landscape of flowers and rocks, a panel below with the signature Muhammad Husayn al-Tabrizi, laid down between red, gold and black minor borders on pink gold-speckled card, some flaking and creasing
Calligraphy 5 1/8 x 2 5/8in. (13.2 x 6.8cm.)

拍品專文

Muhammad Husayn al-Tabrizi (d. 17 Rajab AH 985/30 September 1577 AD) was a known calligrapher of nasta'liq of the Safavid period. He was in charge of the inscriptions on monuments and government buildings during the reign of Shah Isma'il II (AH 984-85/1576-78 AD). None of his recorded works are dated (Mehdi Bayani, Ahval va Asar-e Khosh-Nevisan, Vol. III, Tehran, 1348 sh, pp. 680-83).

A stamp on the back of this folio indicates that it was part of the International Exhibition of Persian Art, London, 1931 (SAK 16).
