Persian manuscript on paper, 4ll. of bold nasta'liq on marbled gold-sprinkled paper in clouds reserved and laid down against a gold ground filled with gold and polychrome floral scrolls, final line with the signature of Hassan Shamlu, laid down between blue minor borders with gold scrolls on peach card with gold floral illumination
Calligraphy 6 7/8 x 3¾in. (17.5 x 9.5cm.)

Lot Essay

Hassan Shamlu was a 17th century calligrapher and poet. Two of his recorded works are dated AH 1037 (1627-28 AD) and AH 1045 (1635-36 AD) (Mehdi Bayani, Ahval va Asar-e Khosh-Nevisan, Vol. I, Tehran, 1345 sh, pp. 142-4).
