Lot Essay

Although this manuscript carries no scribe's signature, there are copious Ottoman notes and seal impressions. One such note ascribes the manuscript to the hand of 'the deceased Jawri'. Jawri is recorded through his only known work dated AH 1043 (1633-34 AD), which is a copy of Gulshan-e Raz (Mehdi Bayani, Ahval va Asar-e Khosh-Nevisan, Vol. I, Tehran, 1345 sh, pp. 129-30).
