SIGNED HAFIZ OTHMAN, OTTOMAN TURKEY, 17TH CENTURY
Arabic manuscript on paper, with two diagonally set rectangular panels each with two lines of large thuluth flanking a smaller line of naskh between small square gold and polychrome floral panels, below, a panel, possibly added, giving the name of the calligrapher as Hafiz Othman, laid down between gold and polychrome rules and gold and black strapwork on illuminated gold panels with polychrome scrolls on floral ground, the illumination signed Sahil, laid down between gold and polychrome rules on cream card with gold avian and floral decoration
Calligraphy 10½ x 5 5/8in. (26.5 x 14.2cm.); folio 15¾ x 10in. (40 x 25.5cm.
