This object relates to German 16th century aquamanile, most closely to a 1540 example that is part of the Lüneburg city plate. That aquamanile, nearly 19 in. (48 cm.) in length, is illustrated in Das Lüneburger Ratssilber, 1990, no. 24, illus. p. 141.
