The arms are those of Blayney, Barons Blayney, probably for Andrew Thomas, 11th Baron Blayney (1770-1834), a distinguished Lieutenant General. He witnessed General Suvorov's battle against the French in Northern Italy, 1799, and participated in the British siege of Malta in 1800 and the capture of Cairo in 1801. In the following decade, he fought for the British in South America and Africa and in 1810, as major-general, he led over fifteen hundred men into battle against the French at Malaga. After a heroic effort, he was captured and held prisoner of war for four years by the French. In 1814, he produced Narrative of a forced journey through Spain and France as a prisoner of war in the years 1810 to 1814.
